Representative Holt sitting with breast cancer research and treatment activists
On National Mamography Day 2005, Rep. Holt meets with breast cancer research and treatment activists at the Princeton YWCA’s Breast Cancer Resource Center to discuss the state of women’s health care legislation in Congress. (Oct. 21, 2005)
Despite almost a century of public policy advocacy efforts, our society still does not treat women and the issues affecting them with the same seriousness and commitment as it does issues affecting men. Since coming to Congress, I have fought for women’s rights on multiple fronts. Defending reproductive rights, working for fairness in health care coverage and increased investments in research into diseases and conditions affecting women, protecting victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, supporting “equal pay for equal work,” and seeking gender equity in schools (in education and athletics)—these are only some of the many issues affecting women that I continue to fight for here on Capitol Hill. Below you’ll find additional information on my efforts in these areas, along with other resources on women’s issues.
