On September 11, 2001, all Americans witnessed the tragedy that can result when our intelligence system fails. My service on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence provides me with the opportunity to see in detail both the foreign threats we face and the challenges that remain in restructuring our intelligence services to meet those threats. While much of my work associated with the committee must remain secret, a good portion of what we do every year is on display for the public, particularly those unclassified bills and policy initiatives that I have undertaken to help make both New Jersey and America as a whole safer.
