West Windsor, NJ – U.S. Rep. Rush Holt (NJ-12) today launched an interactive map on his website today that allows Central New Jersey residents to track funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act that the 12th Congressional District has received. The interactive map, which will be updated as new funding comes to the region, can be found on Holt’s homepage: Holt.house.gov.
“This map is an easy, transparent way for taxpayers to see how their community is benefitting from Recovery funding,” Holt said. “This is real funding that is helping to create and save real jobs and rebuild the economy of the 44 towns and five counties that comprise the 12th Congressional District.”
To date, more than $270 million has been allocated to county and municipal governments, school districts, area businesses, nonprofits, and universities. Examples of funding benefitting Central New Jersey include:
- $37 million to resurface I-287 from Stelton Road to Main Street in Franklin Township, Somerset County.
- $204,618 from the COPS Program for the Frenchtown Police Department to hire new police officers to enhance crime-prevention efforts.
- $3,246,000 to reconstruct, rehabilitate, and repair the Millhurst Dam in Manalapan, and the Oceanic Bridge connecting Middletown and Rumson.
- $818,124 for Trenton and $55,690 for Ewing Township from the Community Development Block Grant Program to create economic opportunities, create suitable living environments, and provide decent affordable housing.
- $4.76 million for Rutgers University and $6.23 million for Princeton University to conduct science and medical research sponsored by the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health. In addition, the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory has received $13.8 million for a variety of initiatives in fusion energy research and for infrastructure improvements at the lab.
- $2,980,717 for Middlesex County job training efforts.
- $10,392,542 for 16 school districts across Monmouth County.
